Ruston Parks and Recreation Department has hosted the Furry Fun Walk for the past six years free of charge. Well, we are now on our seventh event and it is set for Saturday, March 16 at 9:30 a.m. The community is encouraged to come out, with their dog on a leash, for a one mile noncompetitive stroll through one of our 11 scenic facilities, J. C. Love Complex on Ball Park Road.
After the walk, we will all gather in the “Barking Lot” which will be made up of several local pet vendors and services, veterinarians and plenty of giveaways. The City of Ruston’s K-9 unit will be on hand to demonstrate their searching abilities. Additionally, Sparky, the Fire Department mascot dog and the Louisiana Tech Bulldog mascot named Champ will be making the one mile walk with us. We will also have local artist, Cory Carlson drawing caricatures of your four-legged friend, free of charge.
The morning is dedicated to getting outside and exercising with your furry friend as well as raising awareness about adopting from our City’s Animal Shelter and two of our local non-profit shelters, 4 Paws Rescue, Inc. and PAWSNELA.
