Fire Department

The City of Ruston Fire Department is dedicated to service and protection of life and property of the citizens and visitors of Ruston by providing rapid, professional and dependable emergency services and providing fire prevention education, planning and training.

The City of Ruston is currently rated by PIAL (Property Insurance Association of Louisiana) as a 3. A rating of 10 means no fire protection and a rating of 1 is the best fire protection which translates into lower homeowner and business insurance rates. The City has been working toward a rating of 2 for our next inspection which should happen in 2009.

Ruston Fire Department operates with a staffing of 45 firefighters out of three stations. We fight fire, operate the emergency ambulance service, and respond to water rescue, hazardous material, rope rescue, and confined space emergencies.
