Operation Hard Drive
|
On February 6th, local organizations partnered to help keep harmful toxins out of the environment by repurposing and recycling computers. The City of Ruston, Keep Lincoln Parish Beautiful, the Ruston 4-H Club, First National Bank, the LSU AgCenter, the Lincoln Parish Police Jury and Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana teamed up to host Operation Hard Drive at the Ruston Goodwill Store. Operation Hard Drive is a collection drive aimed at recycling used computers, monitors and other computer accessories. Through a partnership with the Dell® Reconnect program, old and outdated computers are recycled responsibly preventing them from being disposed of where they can contaminate soil and water with potentially cancer-causing agents such as copper, zinc and mercury. Nearly 900 pieces was collected during the Operation Hard Drive, pieces can still be brought to the Ruston Goodwill store located in the Graham Shopping Center on I-20 to be recycled. Contact Jessie Schmidt at 318-869-2575 or 1-800-259-4483 for more information on Operation Hard Drive.
