Water Utilities

The mission of the Water Division of the Department of Water Utilities is to provide safe, high quality potable water to the citizens of Ruston. We pride ourselves on operating in compliance with all Environmental Protection Agency, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, and Department of Health and Hospitals rules and regulations for treatment and distribution of drinking water. Our activities revolve around the following areas:
 

• Water Production – producing safe, high quality water from the Sparta Aquifer for delivery to our customers.
• Water Distribution – making sure the water that is distributed throughout the city remains safe to drink, and has sufficient pressure for not only domestic and commercial use, but also for fire fighting purposes.
• Water Quality – performing laboratory tests to insure the water that you use is safe and free of contamination. We are also here to assist with water quality issues that may be isolated to a business or residence.
• Water Conservation – promoting conservative use of the Sparta Aquifer groundwater that we use as our source of supply.
