 Economic Development: Economic Development District No. 1

The primary focus of the City of Ruston’s Department of Economic Development is creating quality jobs and encouraging investment in Ruston and Lincoln Parish. Staff is available to assist companies with expansion and relocation needs by providing economic and demographic data, information on available buildings and sites, labor force analysis, business listings, financing resources, business incentives, and more. Local Economic Development Services:

• Facilitate the expansion of existing local industries.
• Work with existing businesses to address regulatory, permitting, and other business-related issues.
• Assist existing companies with expansion projects and help new companies establish operations through a timely and efficient start-up process.
• Help locate buildings or sites for new development. 
  
• Coordinate with Louisiana Tech University and Louisiana Delta Community College to provide training opportunities for new and existing employees.
•  Louisiana Economic Development (LED) Business Incentives.

Research and Data Collection:

• Provide information on available sites, buildings, and industrial parks.
• Maintain a list of area businesses and their products/services.
• Compile and provide current economic and demographic data.

Funding Assistance:

• Identify funding sources for businesses, including non-traditional financing opportunities.
• Assist businesses in obtaining available state and federal funding.

Legislative Support:

• Support legislative initiatives that enhance the economic growth and development of the City of Ruston.
