The City of Ruston Fire Department is dedicated to protecting the lives and property of Ruston residents by providing professional, dependable emergency services.

The Ruston Fire Department has a Class 1 rating with the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana. On the insurance rating scale, a Class 10 rating indicates no recognized fire protection, while a Class 1 rating is the highest possible classification. This distinction can contribute to lower homeowner and commercial property insurance premiums.

More than 60 full-time members of the Ruston Fire Department serve the community from three fire stations. These dedicated professionals provide:

• Fire suppression and prevention
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) emergency medical services with full patient transport
• Hazardous materials response
• Vehicle extrication
• Water rescue
• Fire prevention and public education.
