Emergency Preparedness & Action
- Smoke Alarms: Install on every level of your home, inside each bedroom, and outside each sleeping area. Test them monthly and replace the batteries annually.
- Escape Planning: Create a home escape plan with two ways out of every room. Practice your escape plan twice a year.
- Evacuation: If a fire occurs, get out, stay out, and call 911. Close doors behind you to contain the fire.
- Fire Extinguishers: Keep a fire extinguisher on every level of your home or building, and ensure family members or staff know how to use it by following the PASS method (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep).
