Flood Plain Administration for properties within the City of Ruston is managed through the Permits and Inspection Office. City of Ruston is committed to promoting awareness of floodplain management, administering existing floodplain development ordinances, addressing stormwater and drainage issues in both new and existing developments, and identifying solutions to existing flood-related problems.
The City also participates in the voluntary Community Rating System (CRS), a program that provides Ruston residents with a 5% discount on eligible flood insurance premiums. The goals of the Community Rating System are to:
(1) Reduce flood losses.
(2) Facilitate accurate flood insurance rating.
(3) Promote awareness of flood insurance.
