City of Ruston and Lincoln Parish Health Task Force Announce Updates to Policies and Procedures

Ruston, Louisiana- Lincoln Parish Healthcare Task Force, which consists of government officials, healthcare providers, emergency responders, nursing home administrators, university representatives, Lincoln Parish School Board and other educators in the parish to discuss the Coronavirus and the preparedness of Lincoln Parish on Thursday, March 12, 2020.

At this time there are still no presumptive cases of COVID-19 in Lincoln Parish. All agencies and organizations represented on the Task Force are carefully monitoring developments from The Center for Disease Control and Louisiana State Health Department. Healthcare providers are asking patients who are exhibiting respiratory symptoms such as cough, fever, or shortness of breath to contact your healthcare provider by phone before entering their facility. This ensures that proper use of personal protection equipment can be used when you arrive at their location. Our local hospitals and nursing homes have signs posted at their entrances that will state the modified visitation policies. We are asking the public to adhere to these policies, as these are made to protect our most vulnerable population.

Local Universities and the school board are closely monitoring the updates on COVID-19 and will inform students, faculty, and staff of any changes. At this time, educators are focused on the campus communities achieving academic goals while staying healthy and safe.

The City of Ruston Customer Service and Utility Billing office has established precautionary policies to help prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). We have temporarily closed our indoor payment collection counter. All payments can be made by coming to our drive through, our drop box, by phone, or on our online payment portal at

We continue to encourage all citizens to follow the prevention protocols established by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) for COVID-19, just as we would for other types of infectious diseases including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). To find more information about Coronavirus and guidance, we encourage you to go directly to the CDC website: there you will find information on symptoms, prevention and treatment, as well as confirmed cases in the U.S. Another resource for information is the Louisiana Department Health web site , where you can find additional information about Coronavirus.

The Lincoln Parish Healthcare Task Force will continue to monitor the Coronavirus and meet regularly to take proactive measures to protect our community. Please contact Amy Stegall (318)251-8623 with the City of Ruston Mayor’s office if you have questions about the Lincoln Parish Health Task Force.
